Board of Directors

The Naperville Parks Foundation is governed by a board of directors comprised of Naperville community members.

Troy Cooper, President
Troy Cooper is a lifelong resident of Naperville. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Troy spent 12 years working at the Naperville family-owned John Greene Realtor helping families buy and sell homes in the community. He also is the founder and owner of Naperville Kayak, which has a mission to expand outdoor recreational opportunities in the Naperville area. Naperville Kayak currently offers kayak rentals and instruction in the Naperville paddleboat quarry through a private-public partnership with the Naperville Park District. Troy resides in Naperville with his wife Kymberly and his three young children, Nolan, Bennett and Vivian.

 

Andrew Schaffner, Vice President
Andrew is a native of Naperville and a former Naperville Park District Commissioner. In adition to being active in many civic, cultural and community endeavors, Andrew is a volunteer for local events and charities. He is actively involved in our parks and is an avid swimmer and bicyclist. Andrew is self-employed and a longtime member of the CME Group.

 

Mary Lou Wehrli, Secretary
Mary Lou is a lifelong resident of Naperville.  She is a graduate of the University of Illinois and Columbia College and has served on several community boards including the Naperville Heritage Society; she also was a former Naperville Park District Commissioner.  Mary Lou has been an active participant on public trails, Homeowners associations, downtown planning, storytelling, special events and historic preservation.  Mary Lou and her husband Herb Nadelhoffer enjoy nature, travel and the arts.

 

Frank Slocumb, Treasurer
Frank is a retired banker with BMO Harris Bank where he served as President of Harris Bank Naperville and later District Executive with responsibility for all Harris locations in the Chicagoland South Suburbs and the State of Indiana.  He retired in 2008, but remains active as a board member with various community organizations including The Rotary Club of Naperville, Naperville Development Partnership, St. Patrick's Residence, Edward Foundation, Naperville Bank and Trust and Naperville Parks Foundation.  He is a graduate of Loyola University of Chicago and the Northwestern University Graduate School of Management (Kellogg).  Slocumb resides in Naperville with his wife, Kay.

 

Jason Altenbern
Jason Altenbern is the community relations coordinator for Indian Prairie School District 204. In this capacity he is responsible for actively engaging local businesses, civic agencies, and intergovernmental partners in collaboration experiences with students and staff. Jason is the liaison to the Indian Prairie Educational Foundation and the Indian Prairie Parents' Council. Prior to his tenure at Indian Prairie, Jason was the director for community development at North Central College and as Associate Director of Student Life with DePaul University. He is actively involved in many civic organizations such the Naperville Jaycees in which he served on the board for multiple terms and fulfilled the role of president. He was a founding member of the Young Professionals of the Naperville Chamber (YPN) where he also served one three-year term as a board member with the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce. He was a 10-year member of the Fry Family YMCA and served as chairman of the board in 2008; he also served three years on the Heritage YMCA board. He is actively involved as a member and board member of the Rotary Club of Naperville. Jason also currently serves as on the Samaritan Interfaith Counseling Center board and ArranmoreArts Foundation board. He and his wife, Amy, have two daughters, Kathryn and Ainsley.  

 

Jim Ensign, Naperville Park District Board Liaison
Jim Ensign, a Naperville resident since 1988, was elected to his first term as a Naperville Park District commissioner in April 2015. Jim brings a wealth of experience as a parks and recreation professional as well as many years of community involvement. After earning a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois in recreation program management, Jim spent 25+ years working in the field of parks and recreation.  He is now an independent consultant in information technology. Jim’s community involvement includes coordinating a variety of youth sports, serving various boards including the Sunrise Rotary and volunteering for community projects like DuPage Pads and the St. Paddy’s Day 5k. Jim and his wife are proud parents of three young adult children.

 

James D. Healy
Jim is a Partner at Goldstine, Skrodzki, Russian, Nemec and Hoff, Ltd., which serves the zoning and government relations needs of small businesses and Fortune 500 Companies.  Jim represents Naperville on the DuPage County Board and is Vice Chair of Transportation for the National Association of Counties.  Jim brings a wealth of experience from serving on the Naperville Development Partnership, Naperville Heritage Society, Forest Preserve Commission and Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce.  Jim is a graduate of Elmhurst College and the John Marshall Law School.  Jim and Bev Healy have lived and raised a family in Naperville for over 20 years.

 

Dave Kelch
Dave Kelsch is the President and owner of Advanced Data Technologies - a company that was founded in 1990 that specializes in the design and installation of structured cabling solutions. Dave is currently active in many community organizations including serving as Vice Chairman for the Board of Trustees at North Central College, board member of the Naperville Development Partnership (former chair), board member for 16 years with the Naperville Heritage Society (president for 5 years), board member of the Naperville Riverwalk Commission, Chair of the Loaves & Fishes Community Advisory Council, and member of the Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise. Dave resides in Naperville with his wife of 25 years and their 3 boys that are ages 21, 18, and 15.

 

Mike Reilly, Naperville Park District Board Liaison
Mike Reilly, a Naperville resident since 1991, was elected to the Park Board in 2009, served as president for three years and was re-elected to the Board in 2013. As an involved community member, Mike is on the Board of Directors of the Naperville Area Homeowners Confederation, a position he has held since 2004. He also is the president of the White Eagle Club Property Owners Association. Additionally, Mike has served as a committeeman for the Wheatland Township precinct. He is self-employed, representing AmAudit. Mike enjoys serving on several local committees and volunteers for major community events such as Naper Days, Ribfest, Last Fling, and the Nicarico Run for Reading. He also gives his time to causes that support cancer research, like the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. A desire to be involved with an integral community entity and helping to foster its growth and service to residents is one of the main reasons that Mike ran for Park Board. A proud father of two adult daughters and a grandfather of four, Mike celebrated his 40th anniversary to his wife, Lynda, in 2008. He has a B.S. in Business Administration from New Haven College in Connecticut.
